Timeline of Cambridge, Massachusetts Map showing the original boundaries of Cambridge and other Massachusetts cities and towns In December , the site of what would become Cambridge was chosen because it was safely upriver from Boston Harbor , making it easily defensible from attacks by enemy ships. Thomas Dudley , his daughter Anne Bradstreet , and her husband Simon were among the town’s first settlers. The first houses were built in the spring of The settlement was initially referred to as “the newe towne”. Its first preacher was Thomas Hooker , who led many of its original inhabitants west in to found Hartford and the Connecticut Colony ; before leaving, they sold their plots to more recent immigrants from England. The marketplace where farmers brought crops from surrounding towns to sell survives today as the small park at the corner of John F. Kennedy and Winthrop Streets, then at the edge of a salt marsh since filled. The town comprised a much larger area than the present city, with various outlying parts becoming independent towns over the years: According to Cotton Mather , Newe Towne was chosen for the site of the college by the Great and General Court the Massachusetts legislature primarily for its proximity to the popular and highly respected Puritan preacher Thomas Shepard.
By Lenz’s law , any change in the magnetic field would be immediately opposed by currents, so the flux through a given volume of fluid could not change. As the fluid moved, the magnetic field would go with it. The theorem describing this effect is called the frozen-in-field theorem.

Against Nothing of note Dali has come up with some great things over the years. Most of them have been stereo and surround speakers. Naturally, we were surprised to hear the Danish company was moving into soundbars. Whatever the appropriate nomenclature, one thing is for sure:
Filed under Pagadian City The Philippines, being a country archipelago of islands and seas, have naturally wonderful beaches, some of which are famous the world over. Beaches like Puerto Galera, Boracay, and the various beaches in Cebu rake in tourists from around the world all year round because of their pristine and cool blue waters and fine, white-sand shores. However, if one will just look around more, they will find that there are other less-known but equally beautiful beach spots in other parts of the Philippines.
In Pagadian, in particular, there are beaches and islands that will make one believe that there is such a thing as a secluded paradise on Earth. A nice place to start would be the Dao-Dao Islands some seven to ten minutes away from the seaport, when riding a motorboat. It is a rather big island, with an area size of about 1.

I was less than halfway through a night of gay speed dating for “bottoms” and “tops” and had already been asked three times if I was in the right group. There were, as usual, too many bottoms! If I wanted to sail with the boys on this gay Noah’s ark, I had to maybe fib to myself a little. The event, which was held in the confines of a cavernous bar downtown, had a surprisingly large turnout. I happened to be one of the first guys to register with the organizer, and I took the opportunity to grab a beer and watch the men herd into line to register like cattle to the slaughter.
There was a drizzle of uneasy laughter from the men in line. Get a couple of drinks in you and what are you? You’re gayer than Judy Garland’s Christmas ornaments. Once everyone had registered, our organizer separated us into our respective groups. And just like that, there we were: It was like a nightmarish game of dodgeball that would air on LOGO.
Lots of bars host trivia nights, holiday parties, tap takeovers, and other activities, so approaching someone becomes less intimidating. The decor is contemporary, yet welcoming, and the menu is huge, yet not overwhelming. The bartenders even have a list of their favorite classic cocktails if you’re having trouble deciding what to get. The bar also holds an annual Kentucky Derby Party along with many other events, so keep an eye out.
Markus Kalberer The majority of atmospheric compounds measured in ice cores are inorganic, while analysis of their organic counterparts is a less well developed field. In recent years, understanding of formation, transport pathways and preservation of these compounds in ice and snow has improved, showing great potential for their use as biomarkers in ice cores. This study presents an optimised analytical technique for quantification of terrestrial and marine biosphere emissions of secondary organic aerosol SOA components and fatty acids in ice using HPLC-MS analysis.
Concentrations of organic compounds in snow and ice are extremely low typically ppb or ppt levels and thus pre-concentration is required prior to analysis. Solid phase extraction SPE recovered compounds across both organic groups but methods improving some recoveries came at the expense of others, and background contamination of fatty acids was high. In environmental samples, both concentrations and seasonal trends were observed to be reproducible when analysed in two different laboratories using the same method.
